The terrain is reasonably easy in Suffolk but there are still a few essentials before you start your hike.
- Make sure you wear layers. I would recommend you wear or bring a base layer, t-shirt, and a fleece.
- Lightweight walking trousers. Top tip never wear denim as when cotton gets wet it takes a long time to dry and you will quickly get cold.
- Waterproofs. A waterproof jacket with a hood and some waterproof trousers are essential.
- Good quality walking socks are essential to stop you getting blisters which can ruin your day. They are also wicking and padded to give you maximum comfort.
- Walking boots. Even though flat terrain it is a good idea to wear boots to give you ankle support. Make sure they are waterproof too.
- Hat and gloves are always a good idea to carry.
- Day pack. Would suggest something that holds 25-35 litres. Don't forget a rucksack liner to keep everything dry should it rain.
- Headtorch, whistle, survival bag are always good to carry wherever you go. Pop them in your pack and forget about them.
- Tissues or toilet paper should you be caught short.
- Hydration - you should always bring at least 2 litres of fluids including a sugar free energy drink such as Lucozade sport lite to replace essential minerals.
- Snacks - some protein and energy bars
- In spring and summer don't forget sun cream, sunglasses, hat and insect repellent.
- Phone & camera.
I bring maps, compass, GPS and first aid kit so you don't need to worry about these items.
